Puad: Ahmad Jauhari must quit
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno supreme council member Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi yesterday called for the resignation of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) group chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Jauhari Yahya.
In a statement, Puad said Jauhari should shoulder the responsibility
for MAS' losses of RM830 million in the first nine months of this year.
He said the 13 per cent hike in MAS' revenue, which adds up to RM3.8 billion, had failed to cover the company's RM375 million losses in the third quarter of this year.
"MAS needs a new dose. Although the MAS-AirAsia collaboration had been cancelled, the latter's influence is still felt in the company," Puad said, adding that some of AirAsia's former employers were holding prominent posts in MAS.
Puad singled out MAS' poor handling of the National Union of Flight Attendant Malaysia's (Nufam) case, with its president, Ismail Nasa-ruddin, barred from flying duties.
Ismail, who is also a chief steward, was grounded for criticising Jauhari's administration,"Jauhari should have been open-minded and held discussions with Nufam representatives to tackle the matter at its root."
Puad said Jauhari should have used the same approach with Malaysia Airlines System Employees Union (Maseu), saying Maseu had its own strategies on how to resolve MAS' losses and that Jauhari should not disregard other stakeholders' views.- New Straits Times, 21/11/2013, Puad: Ahmad Jauhari must quit
